Internet Gambling Websites Indicted

The US Attorney in Manhattan announced an indictment against the founders of the leading internet gambling websites PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker. These are the leading online poker sites doing business with US customers, and are all based out side of the US.

The FBI went so far as to seize the domain names of these sites as well, and 76 bank accounts have been frozen, preventing players from accessing balances held by the online betting companies. The indictment names two principals from each company and others who worked with them to illegally process payments. Some Americans have not been able to get their money withdrawn from accounts with these sites. However, US players who used the sites can't be prosecuted under federal law, and US states that have laws against making bets rarely use them against retail customers.
