UK Firms Invest in Online Games in the US

As strict online gaming laws in the US are relaxed, British gambling firms are betting on winning big with online games in the US. As Washington DC is set to become the first US region to allow online gambling, the UK bookmakers William Hill has announced plans to buy two gaming firms in Nevada for 24 million pounds.

The company is hoping to get a leg up on the competition and take the products that are familiar to the UK and have them in the US. Ladbrokes is also watching developments in the US closely, looking for opportunities to make American acquisitions. They have no current plans to announce, but are excited about the potential as the world's biggest gambling market begins to open up again after the 2006 law that banned financial transactions by online gambling service providers forced foreign firms out.
